In a short clip promoting the upcoming Netflix series Quarterback, Jared Goff had a hilarious response to former nemesis Tom Brady\u2019s compliments about the Detroit Lions.<\/p>\n
During a FOX NFL broadcast last season, the seven-time Super Bowl champion turned analyst praised Detroit\u2019s offense while calling a Lions game alongside Kevin Burkhardt.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d love to be the quarterback of this offense,\u201d Brady said. \u201cIt\u2019s just so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, too bad, Tom. You\u2019re retired,\u201d Goff fired back at his Super Bowl LII foe.<\/p>\n
While Goff\u2019s rebuttal was clearly in jest, it\u2019s hard to blame Brady for feeling that way, considering what Goff had at his disposal last season.<\/p>\n
Detroit finished with the fourth-highest scoring offense in NFL history, racking up 564 points \u2014 trailing only the 2018 Kansas City Chiefs (565), the 2007 New England Patriots (589) \u2014 which Brady led \u2014 and the 2013 Denver Broncos (606).<\/p>\n
Averaging 33.2 points per game, the Lions tallied 68 total touchdowns: 39 passing and 29 rushing.<\/p>\n
Of those 39 passing scores, 37 came from Goff, who also ranked second in the league in passing yards (4,629), fourth in touchdown passes, and finished with the NFL\u2019s second-best quarterback rating (111.8).<\/p>\n
Goff\u2019s efforts helped guide the Lions to a franchise-best 15-2 record and earned him a spot as an MVP finalist. The honor ultimately went to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.<\/p>\n
Goff will be one of the featured players in Season 2 of Quarterback, alongside Cincinnati Bengals\u2019 Joe Burrow and Atlanta Falcons\u2019 Kirk Cousins.<\/p>\n
The new season premieres July 8 on Netflix.<\/p>\n
