The on-field performance of Green Bay Packers franchise leader Jordan Love could become a major contributing factor to the team’s struggles in 2025, according to new\u00a0predictions <\/a>by the NFL released last week.<\/p>\n

Love led the Packers to an 11-6 record last season, resulting in a first-round playoff loss against the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. He suffered several injuries through the season including an MCL sprain, a groin pull and an elbow sprain.<\/p>\n

While the quarterback presents plenty of upside heading into his third season as a starter, NFL senior news writer Kevin Patra suggested Love\u2019s shortcomings could doom Green Bay\u2019s hopes of taking an NFC North title in 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat if Love is just a mid-level starter?\u201d Patra asked. \u201cIf Love gets injured again or devolves into a chuck-it-up INT machine, the Packers’ shot at the division will go out the window once again.\u201d<\/p>\n

The outlook for Love in 2025 will likely change based on the performance of the Packers\u2019 wide receiver room, Patra noted. That group had 23 dropped passes in 2024, the league\u2019s fifth highest that season.<\/p>\n

If first-round wide receiver Matthew Golden proves himself capable of becoming a starter, the Love-Golden connection may develop into a key determining factor in the team\u2019s ability to win crucial games against divisional opponents, Patra said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s not hyperbole to suggest that if his wideouts had not flubbed a few balls in big spots, both Love’s counting statistics and the Packers’ record would look different,\u201d Patra said in reference to the Packers\u2019 1-5 divisional record in 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Golden doesn\u2019t perform like a WR1, the Packers will be right back in the same boat they were in a year ago, with a cavalcade of good-but-not-great receivers surrounding Love,\u201d he added. \u201cWithout a field-tilting receiver, Green Bay\u2019s offense can be slowed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patra noted, however, that Love\u2019s stats in 2024 matched up with some of the league’s best quarterbacks on early downs. Love also appears to be on an \u201cupward trajectory\u201d in 2025, he added.<\/p>\n

The prediction comes after Packers President Ed Policy this month expressed <\/a>an unwillingness to immediately extend head coach Matt LaFleur, whose contract has two years remaining. Both LaFleur and Love will likely face pressure to perform in 2025 given the team\u2019s lackluster showing last season.<\/p>\n
