You hear that? That’s the sound of people jumping off the Kansas City Chiefs’ bandwagon after a poor end to 2024.<\/p>\n

Despite going 15-2 in the regular season and winning the AFC, the Super Bowl beatdown has left a lasting impression on NFL fans and media alike.<\/p>\n

No longer are the Chiefs seen as the top dog in the NFL, despite going to the last three straight Super Bowls, winning two of them, but we aren’t so quick to dismiss them as contenders.<\/p>\n

And in Mike Florio’s latest power rankings for Pro Football Talk, the Chiefs, as expected, aren’t top of the mountain, instead No. 2, behind the Philadelphia Eagles.<\/p>\n

“A Super Bowl loss will only make the Chiefs more determined to get another Super Bowl win,” Florio wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sure. But if they are more determined … isn’t it sort of a surprise that they aren’t No. 1?<\/p>\n

The Chiefs won’t be the hunted for the first time in three years, but make no mistake about it, there will be a host of teams lining up to make sure the franchise doesn’t have as clean a run at it in 2025.<\/p>\n

Granted, a natural regression is likely to take place with the Chiefs going 11-0 in one-score games last season, but that will change (we think).<\/p>\n

Still, Kansas City has all the makings of a team that can make and win the Super Bowl, if things go right. The offensive line needs to improve, the receiver room needs to avoid the injury bug, and Travis Kelce<\/a> has to return to his Pro Bowl form.<\/p>\n

Plus, the defense has to maintain its high standards.<\/p>\n

Do all that, and the Chiefs are in business. As far as being No. 2 in these power rankings, Andy Reid and Co. just got some bulletin board material for 2025.<\/p>\n
