Visalia (Calif.) Redwood<\/a> four-star tight end Israel Briggs<\/a> has committed to Miami<\/a>, he announced on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

He chose the Hurricanes following a decommitment from Arizona State on April 21. LSU was Briggs\u2019 other finalist.<\/p>\n

Briggs is the No. 131 overall prospect and No. 8 TE in the 2026 cycle, according to the\u00a0On3 Industry Ranking<\/a>, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He\u2019s also the No. 15 player in California.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-6, 200-pounder began to trend toward Coral Gables after coming back on the board in the spring. Others attempted to emerge in his process, but the Canes made Briggs a top target at his position, locked in a June official visit and have now landed his pledge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like Miami\u2019s a good fit team-wise, the players, scheme-wise and my skillset,\u201d Briggs told CaneSport after his OV<\/a>. \u201cSo no more than I could ask for.\u201d<\/p>\n

Briggs now joins a top-10 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and will be a top piece for head coach Mario Cristobal<\/a>, TEs coach Cody Woodiel<\/a> and the ACC program.<\/p>\n

Miami adds piece to budding recruiting class<\/p>\n

The Canes now have 17 commits this cycle. Things have continued to surge for the Canes since landing No. 1 overall prospect Jackson Cantwell<\/a> on May 13. The Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle out of Nixa, Mo. is one of six offensive linemen in the class.<\/p>\n

\u201cI picked Miami because of the relationships I had at the school and because of how good the offensive line coaching is with Cristobal and (Alex) Mirabal,\u201d\u00a0Cantwell told On3<\/a>. \u201cThey recruited me the hardest out of any school and had a great development plan for me, and have had a history of giving young guys that are worthy a chance to play.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Monday, Tustin (Calif.) Mission Viejo four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford<\/a> flipped to Miami from Georgia. The Golden State pass-catcher is the No. 85 recruit and No. 11 WR nationally. Spafford and Briggs are two of six pledges for Miami this month.<\/p>\n

Venice (Fla.) four-star EDGE Asharri Charles<\/a> committed on Sunday and is the No. 25 EDGE in the cycle. He\u2019s one of five in-state blue-chippers in the class to date, alongside Miami Northwestern four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell<\/a>, Seffner Armwood four-star cornerback Jaelen Waters<\/a> and Lakeland Jones four-star quarterback Dereon Coleman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other blue-chippers in the class include: Jonesboro (Ga.) four-star CB Jontavious Wyman<\/a>, Mineral City (Ohio) Tuscarawas Valley four-star OT Ben Congdon<\/a>, West Boca Raton (Fla.) four-star running back Javian Mallory<\/a> and Charlotte Myers Park four-star CB Camdin Portis<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Visalia (Calif.)
