The transition from Dallas to Pittsburgh appears to have hit one last speed bump for George Pickens<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The organizer of the George Pickens Youth Camp<\/a> sent a message to participants Wednesday accusing the new Cowboys<\/a> wide receiver of backing out of an agreement to appear at his namesake camp shortly before it was to take place this week at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys acquired Pickens in a trade<\/a> with the Pittsburgh Steelers on May 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cImmediately following the trade, our team contacted George\u2019s representation to confirm whether he would still honor his commitment to the Pittsburgh event,\u201d TruEdge Sports said in the message regarding the June 28 event<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe were promptly assured that George remained committed to the camp and intended to show up for the families who had registered. … Unfortunately, as of last week, TruEdge was notified by George\u2019s team that he has decided to walk back on his word and is no longer interested in attending the camp.\u201d<\/p>\n

In their announcement, TruEdge Sports revealed Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth will appear in Pickens\u2019 place, as well as some other potential Pittsburgh players, for a rescheduled camp July 20 at Highmark Stadium. <\/p>\n

A representative for Pickens did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n

In the deal with the Steelers, Dallas landed Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick, while sending a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection to Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

Pickens, 24, had 59 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns last season. He posted at least 50 receptions, 800 yards and three touchdowns in each of his three seasons with the Steelers.<\/p>\n

The former second-round pick made his debut in a Cowboys uniform during offseason workouts last month, getting reps with Dak Prescott and his new teammates. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s getting better and better every time,\u201d Pickens said after the second day of the mandatory camp<\/a>. \u201cLearning the plays, the more I\u2019m here and the minutia of how he wants to run his plays. So yeah, we\u2019re connecting for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
