As we have noted here many times in the past<\/a>, USC football is continuing to put together a star-studded 2026 recruiting class. With Chad Bowden and Lincoln Riley leading the way, the Trojans<\/a> have the No. 1 ranked class in the country, and have a legitimate shot at finishing with one of their best classes in school history.<\/p>\n

While the 2026 class certainly gives USC fans a lot of reason to be excited about the future, those players will not be suiting up for the Trojans this fall. USC’s 2025 recruiting class, however, will. So what can we expect to see from that group?<\/p>\n

In a recent story<\/a>, 247Sports took a look at the freshman class for every Big Ten football team this fall. Here is what they had to say about USC’s:<\/p>\n

“USC’s 2025 class\u00a0started in the top 10 but finished at No. 15,” recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman wrote. “Several early out-of-state commitments flipped to other programs, and some late misses haunted the Trojans’ close. However, much was forgiven when\u00a0Lincoln Riley\u00a0and company landed the top quarterback in the state,\u00a0Husan Longstreet. Still, it’s rather unusual for\u00a0USC\u00a0to have as many signees from Texas and Georgia as it does from California. Riley is likely to prioritize in-state recruiting over national pursuits moving forward.<\/p>\n

“USC lost a longtime quarterback commitment in\u00a0Julian Lewis\u00a0but ultimately upgraded at the position. Lewis’ prolonged indecision proved a blessing in disguise for the Trojans, allowing them to pursue Husan Longstreet from nearby Corona\u00a0(Calif.) Centennial for months, despite his pledge to\u00a0Texas A&M. USC’s persistent and aggressive recruitment of Longstreet paid off. Landing a local product, which underscored the value of prioritizing in-state recruiting, was the icing on the cake.<\/p>\n

“The 2025 recruiting class was a learning experience for Riley and his staff, prompting USC to hire general manager\u00a0Chad Bowden\u00a0from\u00a0Notre Dame\u00a0this offseason. It pushed the Trojans to prioritize West Coast recruiting, something Riley initially downplayed in his first couple of years. It was still a good class \u2014 top 15 nationally, with an elite quarterback \u2014 but the Trojans are primed for more.”<\/p>\n

While it may lack the depth that the Trojans’ 2026 class has, USC’s 2025 recruiting class does not lack for talent. It will be interesting to watch and see if any of the recruits in the class can step up and become immediate contributors for the team this fall.<\/p>\n
