{"id":163326,"date":"2025-06-27T19:19:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T19:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/163326\/"},"modified":"2025-06-27T19:19:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T19:19:10","slug":"texas-state-expected-to-finalize-move-to-pac-12-at-monday-board-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/163326\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas State expected to finalize move to Pac-12 at Monday board meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">AUSTIN \u2013 Texas State reportedly is prepared to accept a bid to the Pac-12 Conference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">According to the Austin Sports Journal, the Pac-12 Conference formally extended a membership invitation to Texas State beginning in the fall of 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Texas State University System Board of Regents <a href=\"https:\/\/texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com\/rules-and-meetings?interface=VIEW_OPEN_MEETINGS_SUMMARY&amp;recordId=273650\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com\/rules-and-meetings?interface=VIEW_OPEN_MEETINGS_SUMMARY&amp;recordId=273650\">called a special meeting for 9:30 a.m. Monday<\/a> where it is expected to vote on the invitation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/Docs\/GV\/htm\/GV.551.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/Docs\/GV\/htm\/GV.551.htm\">Texas Open Meetings Act<\/a> requires all government bodies, including University systems, to provide 72 hours of advance notice prior to any meeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">By calling the meeting at 9:20 a.m. Friday, Texas State will satisfy this requirement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Texas State must vote to leave the Sun Belt Conference before July 1, when the conference\u2019s exit fee will double from $5 million to $10 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Bobcats will become the eighth football member required for the Pac-12 to maintain status in the Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Texas State will now belong to the same conference as Oregon State, Washington State, Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado State, Utah State and Fresno State.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Read more on KSAT:<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2025 by KSAT &#8211; All rights reserved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"AUSTIN \u2013 Texas State reportedly is prepared to accept a bid to the Pac-12 Conference.
