The New York Jets will be hoping the Justin Fields<\/a> experiment will go smoothly in 2025, but some have their doubts.<\/p>\n

After four years, the former first-round pick has yet to demonstrate the ability to be a consistent, starting-caliber NFL quarterback, having bounced around from the Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers, and now lands with the Jets.<\/p>\n

Aaron Glenn spearheads this new regime that, for some, is going to have some tough times in 2025 as the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator builds the foundation for what he hopes will breed future success.<\/p>\n

For some, that all boils down to what Fields can produce when he steps on the field in 2025.<\/p>\n

And for Fox Sports’ Henry McKenna, in a “What Could Go Right” scenario for the Jets in 2025, Fields is everything the franchise hoped he would be.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s easy to say that Fields\u2019 narrative could follow those of Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold,” McKenna writes<\/a>. “They were all high draft picks who fell from grace with their first teams. And now, they have entrenched themselves as legit starters elsewhere. Fields will look to bring his career back to life \u2014 but in a different way than those predecessors.”<\/p>\n

Now, Fields doesn’t need a Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold-like season in 2025 for him to be a success, but more so, show that the difference between his best and worst games isn’t that big.<\/p>\n

Right now, they are at opposite ends of the spectrum.<\/p>\n

He will have a solid run game and a stout offensive line to lean on, while having Garrett Wilson in the passing game. Is that enough? Color us skeptical.<\/p>\n

However, with Tanner Engstrand trying to emulate what he saw in Detroit, with the run game being crucial, Fields might not have the pressure to throw the team to a win.<\/p>\n

And if that is the case, maybe, just maybe, we might see the best of Justin…finally.<\/p>\n
