Albert Breer has gained a following as a respected beat writer for the NFL, covering the league for Sports Illustrated. And most recently, he wrote a column on nine teams and his takeaways after clubs completed their organized team activities (OTAs). The Denver Broncos<\/a> made on his list, and he\u2019s (figuratively) buying stock in them.<\/p>\n

Breer believes<\/a> the Broncos<\/a> have the best chance to be a threat to the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> in the AFC West. His reasoning? The offseason of second-year quarterback Bo Nix.<\/p>\n

\u201c[…] I think the Broncos might be emerging as the Chiefs\u2019 top threat in the AFC West,” Breer wrote for SI<\/a>. “That\u2019s with all due respect to Jim Harbaugh\u2019s growing Chargers<\/a> and to Pete Carroll\u2019s ability to turn the Raiders<\/a> around.<\/p>\n

“Bo Nix had an offseason that only steeled belief in Denver that he will take another leap in his second year with a young ascending group of wideouts and ancillary pieces Evan Engram and R.J. Harvey Jr. added around him. The defense, in my mind at least, might be the NFL\u2019s best, with a young core of edge rushers (Nik Bonitto, Jonathon Cooper) and corners (Patrick Surtain II, Riley Moss and rookie Jahdae Barron) in place and middle-of-the-field-thumpers Talanoa Hufanga and Dre Greenlaw coming aboard from the San Francisco 49ers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“So there\u2019s a lot to like, and there\u2019s Sean Payton calling the offense and Vance Joseph calling the defense for a third year. … I\u2019d buy on Denver.”<\/p>\n

With head coach Sean Payton in his third year with the club and Nix in his second, the Broncos look primed to build upon their successful ten-win season from 2024.<\/p>\n
