Seattle Seahawks\u2019 Macdonald has the pieces for \u2018really exciting\u2019 defense<\/a><\/p>\n Seahawks Radio Network analyst and former NFL wide receiver Michael Bumpus<\/a> shared his instant reaction to the reunion with Griffin during Seattle Sports\u2019 Bump and Stacy.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a veteran move. He\u2019s gonna compete with Josh Jobe over there at that corner spot,\u201d Bumpus said.<\/p>\n Jobe re-signed with the Seahawks<\/a> on a one-year deal in March. He served as the team\u2019s No. 3 cornerback and played on the outside when Devon Witherspoon moved inside to nickelback. Griffin played 502 of 572 snaps<\/a> on the outside last season, per PFF.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not something that moves the needle very much, but it\u2019s a trustworthy veteran,\u201d Bumpus continued. \u201cAnd I think moves like this just add some depth, you get some experience in that room and you provide some competition for Josh Jobe. So it\u2019s a good move.\u201d<\/p>\n Griffin was a third-round pick by the Seahawks in 2017 and spent four years with the franchise, earning a Pro Bowl nod in 2019. He racked up 249 tackles, 48 passes defended, nine tackles for loss and six interceptions during his time in the Emerald City.<\/p>\n He left the Seahawks to sign a three-year, $40 million with the Jaguars in 2021. He played for four teams in four seasons after leaving Seattle.<\/p>\n Griffin spent last year with the Vikings where he played 50% of their defensive snaps while serving as a reserve cornerback.
