TRAVIS Kelce had to apologize to a Kansas City Chiefs teammate over a practice incident, but Patrick Mahomes didn’t mind his actions.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs<\/a>‘ star tight end started a training camp scuffle in July of 2023.<\/p>\n

Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce punched a teammate after scoring a touchdown during training camp in 2023<\/p>\n

During practice ahead of the 2023-24 NFL<\/a> season, Kelce<\/a> caught a touchdown pass from Mahomes.<\/p>\n

And a second-year linebacker, Jack Cochrane, attempted to punch the ball from Kelce, who didn’t appreciate the youngster’s decision, to say the least.<\/p>\n

Kelce punched Cochrane in the helmet, and the pair pushed each other until cornerback Trent McDuffie stepped in to stop the fight from going any further.<\/p>\n

The punch went viral on social media, and Kelce apologized about the incident on social media, writing on X, “Gotta be a better teammate gotta be a better leader… plain and simple.”<\/p>\n

Mahomes didn’t have a problem with Kelce’s punch and believed it showed the team’s will to not be complacent as they looked to win their third Super Bowl<\/a> in four seasons.<\/p>\n

“I think we all have it. We have a lot of guys out here that are super competitive, but it’s about just doing it the right way,” Mahomes said.<\/p>\n

“Trav (Travis Kelce) punching the guy, not necessarily the way you want to do it, but you love the fire.<\/p>\n

“You love the first on both sides of the ball.”<\/p>\n

“Trying to finish to the last second, but that’s just the type of guys we are.<\/p>\n

“We’re going to compete, we’re going to argue on the football field, and then we’re going to love each other in the locker room.<\/p>\n

“We have a lot of dudes that are super competitive on this team.”<\/p>\n

The Chiefs would go on to beat the San Francisco 49ers to help them win their second straight Super Bowl title.<\/p>\n

Andy Reid<\/a>‘s squad attempted a three-peat, but would fall short as they’d get dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> in Super Bowl 59 in February.<\/p>\n

Kansas City will look to earn a trip to the Super Bowl for a fourth straight time.<\/p>\n

As for Cochraine, the special teamer has continued to rep the red and gold.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old signed a one-year extension worth $2.1 million in April.<\/p>\n

And the 10-time Pro Bowler Kelce will play in his 13th season in the NFL after contemplating retirement.<\/p>\n

He is coming off a career-worst season but has reportedly shed about 25 pounds this offseason.<\/p>\n
