EA Sports College Football 25<\/a> is the best-selling sports game in US history<\/a>, so it\u2019s perhaps no surprise the publisher has its eyes on the prize when it comes to basketball.<\/p>\n

2K Sports has a stranglehold on professional basketball with its NBA 2K<\/a> series, which beat out EA Sports\u2019 own NBA Live<\/a> franchise years ago.<\/p>\n

But the publisher has today announced plans to bring back college basketball.<\/p>\n

While the announcement barely amounts to anything more than an image of an immaculately rendered basketball and the words \u201cbring the madness\u201d and \u201clet\u2019s run it back\u201d, the hashtag CBB (or College Basketball) confirms the publisher\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n

The last NCAA Basketball<\/a> game launched in 2009 on the PS3, so it\u2019s been over 15 years since the last entry in the series. College Hoops 2K8<\/a> signalled 2K Sports\u2019 exit from the category even earlier in 2007.<\/p>\n

We suspect it\u2019s going to take a few years for EA Sports to spin up this title, but considering the success of EA Sports College Football 25, it knows there\u2019s a lot of money on the line here.<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll be interesting to see whether 2K Sports greenlights its own rival, or just cedes the category to EA Sports entirely.<\/p>\n
