LSU<\/a> linebacker Whit Weeks<\/a> continues to earn national recognition ahead of the 2025 season, as the junior was named a second-team preseason All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Weeks, now entering his third season in Baton Rouge, has developed into one of the top defensive playmakers in the country. He is returning to the field in fall camp as a full go after he suffered a dislocated ankle and broken fibula in the Texas Bowl against Baylor.<\/p>\n

In just 24 career games, Weeks has racked up 174 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. After starting 14 games over his first two seasons, he returns in 2025 as a cornerstone of the Tigers\u2019 defense.<\/p>\n

The 2024 season marked a breakout year for the Georgia native. Weeks was named First-Team All-SEC after finishing second in the conference and ninth nationally with 125 total tackles. That mark ranks as the eighth-most in a single season in LSU history. His consistency and high-level production quickly made him one of the league\u2019s most respected defenders.<\/p>\n

Weeks earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice during his standout sophomore campaign. The first came in LSU\u2019s dramatic overtime win over Ole Miss, where he posted a career-high 18 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, one sack, and a forced fumble. He followed that up later in the season with another dominant performance against Oklahoma, tallying 17 tackles and a sack for a six-yard loss in the Tigers\u2019 37-17 victory.<\/p>\n

Throughout the 2024 season, Weeks recorded double-digit tackles in six different games. That included 17 stops against Alabama and 11 apiece in key wins over South Carolina and South Alabama. He also added 10 tackles in LSU\u2019s victory over Arkansas.<\/p>\n

With Weeks returning to anchor the linebacker corps, along with Harold Perkins, LSU enters the 2025 campaign with high expectations. The Tigers open the season in a marquee matchup on Saturday, August 30, when they travel to face Clemson in a battle of projected Top 10 teams.
