A SAN FRANCISCO REAL ESTATE development company finalized a $24 million deal Friday to buy the former Oakland Raiders\u2019 training facility.<\/p>\n
Redco Development, the city of Oakland and the Oakland Roots and Soul Sports Club, a professional soccer organization, also announced that the team penned a 15-year-lease to continue using the facility, which has been its home for the past four years.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The sale revenue will be shared equally between Oakland and Alameda County, city officials said in a news release Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cRoots and Soul are building something really special here in the East Bay, and we\u2019re honored to help anchor that vision with a permanent home,\u201d said Redco managing partner Chris Freise.<\/p>\n
The site, now known as the UCSF Health Oakland Roots and Soul Performance Center, features two buildings and multiple soccer fields and is located at 1150 and 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway in the Harbor Bay Business Park in Alameda.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The team has used it for the past four years as a training facility under a license agreement with Oakland and the county.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving a strong training facility is vital to the success of our club,\u201d said Oakland Roots and Soul SC President Lindsay Barenz. \u201cWe are grateful to the City of Oakland, the County of Alameda, and Redco for helping us secure a long-term home next door to the Oakland Airport, which is a huge step towards our long-term sustainability in Oakland.\u201d<\/p>\n
The site includes an 18,000-square-foot building with indoor training facilities, headquarters office space, locker rooms, training rooms, media and meeting rooms and a small auditorium.<\/p>\n
The Oakland Roots is a men\u2019s professional soccer team in the USL Championship league and the Oakland Soul is a women\u2019s soccer team that plays in the USL W League and serves as a feeder into pro teams.\u00a0<\/p>\n
