It seems it is good to be Suntarine Perkins<\/a> this Summer. The Ole Miss hybrid linebacker\/defensive end continues to be the spotlight player on that side of the ball and racked up another honor this week.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday Perkins was named a Walter Camp Preseason All-American. It is yet another All-American distinction the junior has picked up in the last month. Phil Steele named him Fourth Team All-American.<\/a><\/p>\n

Perkins was named to the Second Team linebackers with LSU\u2019s Whit Weeks<\/a> and Old Dominion\u2019s Jason Henderson<\/a>. He was one of five Southeastern Conference players named to Second Team Defense.<\/p>\n

Last year zero Ole Miss players were named to Walter Camp\u2019s preseason list but defensive tackle Walter Nolen was named to the 2024 Second Team Defense All-American team after the season.<\/p>\n

On3\u2019s Ari Wasserman also named Perkins a way-too-early preseason All-American back in February<\/a>, praising what Perkins will provide once he is 100 percent after offseason surgery to fix a torn labrum.<\/p>\n

\u201cThough Perkins had shoulder surgery in January, he\u2019ll be full-go by the fall,\u201d Wasserman wrote. \u201cWhat does full-go look like for opposing offenses? Torture. Though he doesn\u2019t have the size as a typical linebacker, Perkins flies all over the field. Last year he had 14 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks. If he gets better next year \u2014 which he will \u2014 he\u2019s going to be one of the biggest defensive stars in the sport.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perkins is representing Ole Miss in the player rankings on the digital field, too.<\/p>\n

The latest installment of the NCAA Football video game series releases this month \u2014 with Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin<\/a> gracing a version of the cover \u2014 and the player ratings are starting to roll out for each position.<\/p>\n

Perkins is seeing his Summer hype machine carry over to consoles as he earned the second-best player rating among linebackers with a 93 overall<\/a>. He ties Pittsburgh\u2019s Kyle Louis with Anthony Hill, Jr. of Texas earning the top rating at 95.<\/p>\n
