Texas A&M has added its first every-down linebacker to its 2026 class with the commitment of 4-star DaQuives Beck<\/a> Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Beck, a native of Carthage, has tallied 234 tackles, 12 sacks, five fumble recoveries and two recoveries for touchdowns during his two high school seasons. He earned scholarship offers from the likes of Tennessee, Texas and USC, but narrowed his list of finalists to A&M, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.<\/p>\n

The Aggies were long considered the leader for Beck after he made several trips to College Station this spring, and he didn\u2019t wait long after his 3 p.m. announcement time to make things official.<\/p>\n

Beck is the 22nd player to join A&M\u2019s 2026 recruiting class and the eighth from the state of Texas. He is the second player from Carthage, joining running back and fellow 4-star KJ Edwards<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Aggies may not be done picking up commitments this week. Targets like wide receiver Boobie Feaster<\/a>, linebacker Tank King<\/a> and defensive end Bryce Perry-Wright<\/a> are all scheduled to announce their commitments on Independence Day.<\/p>\n

Analysis of A&M\u2019s newest commit<\/p>\n

Speed, speed and more speed. Beck boasts a 40-yard-dash time in the 4.5-second range, and I don\u2019t question it. He\u2019s got a highlight reel that shows him either chasing down opponents or running away from them. <\/p>\n

A lot of highlight reels show players chasing down opponents. Most don\u2019t have a guy lining up on the left end of the line of scrimmage to blitz and catching a running back for a short gain on a screen when the back is on the right side of the quarterback. Beck not only did that, he ran around the back of the entire offensive line, avoided two blocking receivers and then brought the back down.<\/p>\n

Beck has the versatility, thanks to his speed, of being anything from an edge rusher to almost a safety dropping into coverage. He needs to gain a little weight to be effective at the SEC level as he\u2019s currently about 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, but he should get the opportunity to develop given A&M\u2019s depth at the position. <\/p>\n

In Beck, the Aggies get someone with good field vision, the ability to find the ball and get a player to the turf and plus lateral movement.
