Fruitland<\/a> (Idaho) four-star offensive tackle Kelvin Obot<\/a> has committed to Utah<\/a>, he told Rivals\u2019 Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He chose the Utes over Nebraska, Oregon and Michigan, as well as plenty of other high-profile offers.<\/p>\n

Rivals ranks Obot as the nation\u2019s No. 9 overall prospect. He checks in as the No. 79 overall prospect and No. 7 OT in the 2026 cycle, according to the\u00a0Rivals Industry Ranking<\/a>, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a massive win on the trail for head coach Kyle Whittingham<\/a> and the Utes, as Obot becomes the class jewel in Salt Lake City. Despite holding a slew of offers from elite programs across the country, he\u2019s ready to settle in with the Big 12 program. <\/p>\n

\u201cI have family in Utah, so I feel pretty familiar with the area, and their staff and program is very consistent, Obot told Rivals\u2019 Steve Wiltfong in April<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Utah got his first official visit on the weekend of May 30. Obot becomes commitment No. 14 for the Utes this cycle and is the first blue-chipper in the class, too. He\u2019s the second Idaho native in the class, joining Meridian three-star linebacker LaGary Mitchell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While Obot\u2019s commitment is of a different caliber, it continues what was a fruitful June on the trail for Utah recruitment. It landed a whopping 12 commitments last month. Among those to commit include: Lake Oswego (Ore.) three-star running back LaMarcus Bell<\/a>, Hampton (Ga.) Dutchtown three-star quarterback Michael Johnson<\/a>, Orem (Utah) Timpview three-star safety Aisa Galea\u2019i<\/a>, Watsonville (Calif.) St. Francis three-star athlete Perrion Williams<\/a> and Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek three-star safety Carter Stewart<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Scout\u2019s Take on Kelvin Obot<\/p>\n

Rivals\u2019 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power previously wrote this of Obot as a prospect:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve loved the Idaho native\u2019s junior film since last October. Obot shows outstanding functional athleticism and is a dominant player against weaker competition. Since February, we\u2019ve nailed down verified measurements and Obot is bigger than expected, checking in at north of 6-foot-5.5 and 300 pounds with plus length.
