Washington Commanders receiver Deebo Samuel will be looking to fight a couple of narratives surrounding him in 2025.<\/p>\n

With Samuel having a so-so couple of seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, to the now-infamous videos this offseason that appear to show him in an unflattering way, the audience has its doubts and the All-Pro has some questions to answer.<\/p>\n

Coming to Washington to help elevate Jayden Daniels’<\/a> game and the offense as a whole, Samuel will want to be the dual-threat weapon he was with the 49ers.<\/p>\n

But CBS Sports questions whether he can be that guy again.<\/p>\n

“The Commanders bought low to add Samuel as a playmaker to complement Terry McLaurin on offense, and it will be intriguing to see how offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury utilizes him,” CBS Sports writes<\/a>. “The key question regarding Samuel? Is he still the Swiss Army knife, game-changing player he was in San Francisco?<\/p>\n

“Samuel had a career low in scrimmage yards per game (53.7) and yards per touch (8.7) last season. The fresh start in Washington may get Samuel back to the 2019-2023 version (11.6 yards per touch), as he needs to showcase he’s still the yards-after-catch merchant he was with the 49ers.”<\/p>\n

There’s no denying the talent is still there, but Samuel has to show in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense that he is that guy, and he’ll get ample opportunities to do so.<\/p>\n

Both as a runner with the Commanders possessing a top-tier rushing attack, along with being a running mate for Terry McLaurin, Deebo is being looked at as the player who can unlock everything for Washington’s offense.<\/p>\n

Of course, there will be a learning curve for the receiver, but he’s shown how devastating he can be when fully healthy and rolling.<\/p>\n

Washington hopes the All-Pro version of Deebo awaits them in 2025.<\/p>\n
