Tru Edwards, the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> wide receiver Troy Edwards<\/a>, has signed an undrafted free-agent contract with the Los Angeles Rams<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Edwards transferred to Kentucky this winter and put in a waiver, hoping to land an extra year of eligibility, but decided to pursue the NFL when the process was taking far too long. <\/p>\n

His father, Troy, was a Steelers wide receiver from 1999 to 2001. The Steelers selected him in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech. He played in the NFL for seven seasons. <\/p>\n

That is where Tru went to play the majority of his college football. He started his career in Hawaii, but after one season with the Rainbow Warriors, Edwards transferred to his father\u2019s alma mater.<\/p>\n

Starting in 2023, he took off from the slot as a significant part of their team. In 2024, Edwards had a breakout campaign, making 84 receptions for 986 yards and six touchdowns. All of those numbers were career highs.<\/p>\n

At Louisiana Tech\u2019s Pro Day, he stood 6-foot-1, 198 pounds, running a 4.57 40-yard dash. Edwards impressed scouts with his explosiveness, posting a 39.5-inch vertical and 10-foot-7-inch broad jump.<\/p>\n
