Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was fined $5,628 by the NFL for wearing mismatched cleats that were not \u201cconstitutional team colors,\u201d a person familiar with the league\u2019s decision told The Associated Press on Friday.<\/p>\n
The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the NFL had not disclosed the fine, which stemmed from Hurts wearing Air Jordan cleats in two different shades of green during the Eagles\u2019 27-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n The Nike subsidiary behind the shoes indicated on social media<\/a> that it would pay Hurts\u2019 fine.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re paying the fine. You can\u2019t ban greatness,\u201d Jordan Brand said on X.<\/p>\n Hurts said this week he was supposed to wear Jordan Columbia 11s but the shipment did not arrive on time. He took photos on a lark on a photo shoot with mismatched cleats on his feet and decided he liked the look enough to play that way last Sunday.<\/p>\n \u201cHopefully they come in soon,\u201d Hurts said Wednesday of his Jordans.<\/p>\n It wasn\u2019t the first time this season that Hurts has worn two different cleats.<\/p>\n He was forced to play with mismatched cleats<\/a> on Oct. 28 against Cincinnati when one of his green Air Jordan 4 PEs<\/a> came off during a run down the sideline. But Hurts had tied the laces so tightly that he couldn\u2019t easily slip on the cleat and was forced to burn a timeout to find a substitute shoe. He changed to a white Jordan 11<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI had to go Jalen Two Shoes for a bit,\u201d Hurts said after the 37-17 win<\/a> over the Bengals.<\/p>\n This time around, Hurts wore one dark \u201cMidnight green\u201d cleat matching his jersey and one \u201cKelly green\u201d cleat for the entire game.
