The Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a> won their second Super Bowl<\/a>\u00a0in franchise history after the 2020 season behind the arm of legendary quarterback<\/a> Tom Brady<\/a> and a heavy dose of defense.<\/p>\n

One of the key pieces of that defense was pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul, who spent four seasons with the Bucs from 2018-21.<\/p>\n

Pierre-Paul last played in the league in 2023 when he appeared in two games for the Miami Dolphins<\/a> and one game for the New Orleans Saints<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, he’s hoping for a comeback, but with a specific team, as he told ESPN’s Jordan Rannin.<\/a><\/p>\n

“To go back somewhere where my career started,” JPP said<\/a>. “The fans know me and know the type of player that I am. I’ll always be that type of player and just give ’em everything I got, which I know it’ll be more than enough.<\/p>\n

“I can still do it.”<\/p>\n

That team, of course, is the New York Giants.<\/p>\n

The last time Pierre-Paul played significant playing time in the league was with the Baltimore Ravens<\/a> in 2022 after signing a one-year, $1.35 million deal. He appeared in 14 games with 13 starts and posted 26 tackles with 17 solo, three sacks, five tackles for loss, an interception and five passes defended.<\/p>\n

During his time with the Buccaneers, Pierre-Paul tallied 171 tackles with 126 solo and 35 for loss, with two interceptions, eight forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 33 sacks across 54 games and 52 starts.<\/p>\n

JPP dealt with a nagging rotator cuff injury in 2021 that caused him to miss five games, which required surgery after the season.<\/p>\n

He made the Pro Bowl in the Bucs’ Super Bowl season of 2020 when he posted 9.5 sacks, but he hasn\u2019t had more than three sacks in a season since.<\/p>\n
