Former NFL linebacker and Super Bowl champion Bryan Braman is battling a rare, life-threatening cancer, according to a GoFundMe page organized to help pay for his medical costs.<\/p>\n
Braman has undergone several surgeries and chemotherapy at a hospital in Seattle, according to the GoFundMe<\/a>, which has raised more than $83,000 of its $25,000 goal as of Monday afternoon. <\/p>\n He also underwent a CAR T-Cell therapy, which treats some types of blood cancers by adding a lab-made gene to your cancer-fighting T-cells, according to the Cleveland Clinic<\/a>. CAR-T therapy can be used to treat some types of leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other cancers, according to health experts.<\/p>\n Braman is \u201cin the fight of his life,\u201d his agent, Sean Stellato, told KPRC 2<\/a> in Houston. <\/p>\n \u201cAt Stellato Sports, Bryan Braman has always stood for strength, resilience and leadership,\u201d Stellato said. \u201cHe is a pillar and a staple of the underdog. Now, in the face of cancer, he embodies those qualities more than ever. If there is one person that I know that can beat cancer, it is Bryan Braman, who I have always considered family. He\u2019s in the fight of his life. Please support Bryan and keep him in your prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n Braman played seven seasons for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles from 2011-17, including winning Super Bowl LII with the Eagles in February 2018.<\/p>\n The Spokane, Washington, native played college football at West Texas A&M before signing with the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He played his first three seasons with Houston and spent his final four seasons with the Eagles. He played in 97 games during his seven-year NFL career, largely as a special teams player, and recorded 56 tackles, two fumble recoveries and 1.5 sacks.<\/p>\n Braman\u2019s GoFundMe has received donations from former Texans teammates J.J. Watt, Brian Cushing and Duane Brown, as well as former Eagles teammates Brent Celek, Rasul Douglas and Emmanuel Acho, according to KPRC 2.<\/p>\n \u201cWith these renewed donations, and a giant thank you goes out to ALL of you donors, Bryan will be able to get the necessities for his diet,\u201d wrote William Jones, a Spokane resident who organized the GoFundMe on Braman\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n \u201cThese donations will also go along way too help cover some of the treatment costs that are not covered by insurances.
