Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel have not played an NFL snap yet. Still, ESPN\u2019s Matt Miller<\/a> is already predicting the franchise to target Clemson\u2019s Cade Klubnik at the 2026 draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Skip Bayless believes that Cleveland ditching Sanders and Gabriel entirely to cater to Clubnik is on the table.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Miller] has the Cleveland Browns finishing worst and picking first. And are you ready for this? Picking a quarterback first overall \u2014 Clemson\u2019s Cade Klubnik. I believe in Shedeur Sanders, who I thought should have gone No. 1 in this year\u2019s draft. I believe the NFL tried to teach Shedeur and his father, Deion, a big, bad lesson by blackballing him as Shedeur fell all the way into the fifth round, where Cleveland finally took him 50 picks after the Browns had already taken Dillon Gabriel, who, of course, also plays quarterback,\u201d Bayless said on \u201cThe Skip Bayless Show.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIf Matt Miller is right, then I don\u2019t know. I\u2019d have to assume Shedeur would have to beat out Dillon Gabriel to be Klubnik\u2019s backup going forward. Unless, of course, the Browns just say, We\u2019ve got to remove any young threat to Klubnik. Man, what a mountain Shedeur Sanders is now going to have to climb.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sanders and Gabriel likely won\u2019t start the season under center, with Kenny Pickett looking like QB1<\/a> in Berea with less than two weeks to go until training camp.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no guarantee they\u2019ll see playing time, either. Many project the Browns to flounder in 2025, but there\u2019s a reason the games are played.<\/p>\n

If Cleveland\u2019s front office eventually decides to fully commit to Klubnik, removing Sanders would be a necessity if Deion Sanders is as vocal and demanding as he\u2019s expected to be<\/a> when his son doesn\u2019t start.<\/p>\n

Gabriel wouldn\u2019t be as much of a distraction, but as a third-round pick<\/a>, he might have value on the trade market.<\/p>\n

Time will tell if this preseason chatter will have any value a year from now.<\/p>\n
