The Cleveland Browns are an intriguing team to watch as they navigate their quarterback situation. They have two rookies\u2014Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders\u2014but it looks like Gabriel is the one most likely to get a chance to start.<\/a><\/p>\n

Sanders has been receiving mentorship from Deshaun Watson, who is helping him find his footing in the NFL. Sanders has been staying late after practice and arriving early to put in extra work. With Watson not expected to play for some time this season, his focus is on helping Sanders improve.<\/p>\n

\u201cWatson, famously dubbed a ‘big swing and a miss’ by Browns owner Jimmy Haslam at the NFL Annual Meetings in March, has also taken Sanders under his wing to help him come up the learning curve quickly, and it\u2019s been working. Sanders\u2019 Hall of Fame dad, Deion, publicly supported Watson when some Browns fans cheered while he was down on the field in tears with his re-torn Achilles Oct. 20 against the Bengals, and Watson is only too happy to repay the favor,\u201d Cleveland.com\u2019s Mary Kay Cabot wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n

While Watson mentors Sanders, Browns QB coach Quincy Avery is openly critical of Deion Sanders.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reason I have such a difficult time with Deion is because so many of the things he does, it\u2019s about him rather than other people,\u201d Avery said, referring to Sanders\u2019 work as the coach at Colorado.<\/a> \u201cI think that a lot of people miss that. So we get to see who he is as a person when he has to take on this team without his sons involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is not the ideal situation for the Browns, as the mentor of their rookie quarterback is having his own QB coach publicly call out a teammate\u2019s father. This tension could very well create problems within the organization down the line.<\/p>\n
