The Seattle Seahawks have invited<\/a> Arizona State defensive back Shamari Simmons to their rookie minicamp.<\/p>\n

The safety, who posted a photo<\/a> of the franchise\u2019s locker room on Friday, is listed on Seattle\u2019s updated rookie minicamp roster and will wear No. 23. <\/p>\n

Simmons played in 26 games as a Sun Devil across two seasons. He tallied 246 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two interceptions and one sack. The DB swatted away 10 passes, forced four fumbles and recovered two.<\/p>\n

In 2024, he had the fourth-most tackles on the team (72) and forced the most fumbles (four). He played the most snaps of his college career with 831 and was targeted 81 times. He allowed 57 receptions for 523 yards and one touchdown.<\/p>\n

The ASU nickel was given a 74.4 overall grade by Pro Football Focus in 2024.<\/p>\n

In Simmons\u2019 first year at ASU in 2023, he played the most snaps of any Sun Devil defender (796) and allowed 16 receptions on 26 targets for 399 yards and four touchdowns.<\/p>\n

His 73 total tackles were the most on the squad as he added 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and broke up six passes. He also recovered two fumbles.<\/p>\n

The defensive back was named the Sun Devils\u2019 defensive MVP for his efforts, being a bright spot on the unit in an otherwise underwhelming season.<\/p>\n

Arizona State\u2019s Shamari Simmons<\/p>\n

While Simmons was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, he was invited to the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl and had a strong showing.<\/p>\n

He recorded five total tackles and one pass deflection.<\/p>\n

Simmons was a big contributor to ASU\u2019s comeback attempt against Texas at the Peach Bowl.<\/p>\n

While he missed the first half due to a previous targeting offense, he made an impact right away<\/a> when he got his chance. The DB forced a fumble on Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and tackled him in the endzone for safety.<\/p>\n
