5<\/p>\n Goff is one of three NFL quarterbacks in season 2 of the Netflix show.Credit: Getty<\/p>\n In episode three entitled \u2018Beautiful Minds\u2019, there is a particular focus on Detroit Lions<\/a> star quarterback Goff.\u00a0<\/p>\n In Week 6 the Lions dominantly dismantled the Dallas Cowboys<\/a> winning by a margin of 47-9.\u00a0<\/p>\n In that contest, Goff had a particularly impressive outing, completing 18 of his 25 pass attempts, throwing for 315 total yards, and three touchdowns.\u00a0<\/p>\n Four members of the Lions\u2019 receiving corps had more than 50 yards on the game, including wide receiver Jameson Williams who had 76 yards from three receptions and a touchdown.\u00a0<\/p>\n The backfield of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs was also firing on all cylinders as the one-two punch duo combined for 143 rushing yards off of just 24 carries and scoring touchdowns.<\/p>\n NFL<\/a> analyst Tom Brady<\/a>, who was in the middle of his debut season in the booth for Fox Sports, was covering the contest between the two NFC heavyweights.<\/p>\n Upon seeing the offense that then-offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was dialling up, Brady expressed how he would have loved to play in that system.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I look at this offense, this offense reminds me of what great offense should be in the NFL,\u201d Brady told Kevin Burkhardt on the broadcast.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d love to be the quarterback in this offense. It\u2019s so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n Netflix presented Goff with this clip, to which he bluntly – but cheekily – replied: \u201cYeah. Too bad, Tom. You can keep calling games, and it\u2019s been fun.\u201d<\/p>\n A seven-time Super Bowl<\/a> champion with the New England Patriots<\/a> and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a>, 47-year-old Brady took on a broadcasting role with Fox Sports in 2024, signing a 10-year, $375 million contract<\/a>, making him the highest paid sports commentator in history. <\/p>\n His lucrative deal drew some criticism<\/a>– albeit jokingly – from his colleagues, including four-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Terry Bradshaw<\/a>, who has been with FOX NFL Sunday since 1994.\u00a0<\/p>\n Bradshaw is estimated to earn two million a year, a $35 million disparity between him and Brady.<\/p>\n 5<\/p>\n Brady is earning $37.5 million a year at Fox SportsCredit: Getty 5<\/p>\n Goff has been likened to Brady as it pertains to driving down the field late on in gamesCredit: Getty<\/p>\n However, because of his involvement as a part owner<\/a> of the Las Vegas Raiders<\/a>, the NFL has since put several restrictions on what Brady can do<\/a> in his broadcasting role.\u00a0<\/p>\n For example, he is not allowed to attend broadcast production meetings, nor have any access to team facilities, coaches or players.<\/p>\n Furthermore, he is not allowed to publicly criticize any game officials or other teams, making his job as a commentator\/analyst just that much more difficult. <\/p>\n For Goff, he was considered by many early on in the 2024 campaign to be one of the front-runners for the coveted Most Valuable Player award.\u00a0<\/p>\n Following the Lions\u2019 narrow 31-29 win over the then-undefeated Vikings, in which Goff was highly efficient completing 22 of his 25 pass attempts for 280 yards and two touchdowns, he drew some high praise from former Patriots linebacker, Tedy Bruschi. <\/p>\n \u201cJared Goff is the best quarterback in the league right now,\u201d Bruschi said.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThis guy is the leader in the clubhouse for MVP.\u201d<\/p>\n Tearful Jared Goff opens up on emotional Los Angeles Rams exit<\/p>\n Bradshaw even likened what he saw of Goff to that of arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe first thing that came to my mind when they [Lions] got the ball back to go down and kick the winning field goal was that this kind of reminds me, a little bit, of our guy Tom Brady,\u201d Bradshaw said post-game.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n Though Goff\u2019s play petered out a bit as the season went on, under head coach Dan Campbell he has helped bring winning back to the Motor City, since his emotional trade<\/a> from the Los Angeles Rams<\/a> back in 2021. <\/p>\n Having now reached the NFC Championship Game and Divisional Round in the last two seasons, Goff will no doubt have his eyes fixed on finally leading Detroit to their first ever Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.\u00a0<\/p>\n After all, he has shown he has the arm caliber to do so.<\/p>\n Stay up to date with the latest from the NFL across all platforms – follow our\u00a0NFL Facebook page<\/a>, subscribe to our\u00a0talkSPORT End Zone YouTube channel\u00a0<\/a>for all the offseason news, interviews and more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The highly anticipated season two of \u2018Quarterback\u2019 has finally been aired on Netflix.
