The biggest game of the NFL<\/a> and most watched television program of the year is roughly a month away. Starting this week, 14 teams across the AFC and NFC will compete in the NFL playoffs for a chance to appear at the Super Bowl<\/a> in New Orleans.<\/p>\n

Last year’s championship matchup ended in an overtime victory for the\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>, defeating the\u00a0San Francisco 49ers<\/a> 25-22. It was the second Super Bowl title in a row for the Chiefs, who are heavily favored in this year’s playoffs.<\/p>\n

While it’s too soon to know what two teams will square off next month, here’s what we know about\u00a0Super Bowl 59<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sunday, Feb. 9 is the date of this year’s Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

Where is Super Bowl 2025 being played?<\/p>\n

The AFC and NFC<\/a> champion teams competing for the Vince Lombardi trophy will face each other this year at Caesars Superdome<\/a> in New Orleans. The last time the stadium hosted a Super Bowl was in 2013 between the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens.<\/p>\n

What Super Bowl is it?<\/p>\n

Super Bowl 59 is also referred to as “Super Bowl LIX.” In Roman numerals, the “L” means 50 and the IX stands for 9. Added together they make 59.<\/p>\n

Next year will be Super Bowl 60, otherwise known as Super Bowl LX.<\/p>\n

Who is playing in Super Bowl 59?<\/p>\n

The two NFL teams, one from the AFC and one from the NFC, playing in this year’s Super Bowl have not yet been decided. The\u00a0NFL playoffs<\/a>\u00a0begin Saturday, Jan. 11, and will gradually narrow the field down until only two teams are left standing.<\/p>\n

Kendrick Lamar<\/a>\u00a0is headlining the\u00a0Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show<\/a>\u00a0this year. The Grammy Award-winning artist is no stranger to football’s biggest night.
