What do NFL personnel members think of the Indianapolis Colts’ <\/a>Jonathan Taylor?<\/p>\n

Recently, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler<\/a> spoke to league executives, coaches, and scouts to put together a list of the top 10 running backs ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Taylor came in at No. 7 in these rankings.<\/a><\/p>\n

Here is what one AFC executive had to say about him:<\/p>\n

“He’s underrated,” an AFC executive told Fowler. “Highly productive and can wear you down before breaking off a big run.”<\/p>\n

After battling injuries in 2022 and 2023, Taylor was mostly healthy in 2024, appearing in 14 games, and with that, he was back to his highly productive self.<\/p>\n

Taylor finished last season with 1,431 rushing yards, the fourth-most in football. He also ranked 11th in yards per carry at 4.7 and was seventh in rushes of 10 or more yards, per PFF<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With that said, a new rushing metric<\/a> developed by Chris Trapasso<\/a>, which weighs heavily missed tackles forced and explosive runs of 15-plus yards, isn’t as high on Taylor.<\/p>\n

As good as Taylor’s overall production was last season, there was a lack of missed tackles forced and yards after contact, relative to the number of carries Taylor had.<\/p>\n

Taylor’s continued success in 2025 will be vital for the Colts<\/a>‘ offense because a strong running game does wonders for the quarterback position and can help shoulder some of the workload.
