Eight Big 12 head coaches during yesterday\u2019s football media days said that the \u201cWild West\u201d of player payment in college sports \u201cremains wild,\u201d according to Ross Dellenger of YAHOO SPORTS. Some coaches believe that schools are \u201cmaking big enough contract offers to recruits that they cannot possibly remain under college football\u2019s new compensation cap<\/a>.\u201d Others are \u201cguaranteeing third-party NIL deals as part of the total compensation package to athletes — something against new revenue-share rules.\u201d Cincinnati head coach Scott Satterfield said, \u201cI don\u2019t understand what rules everybody is playing by. The whole point of this was for us all to be playing by the same rules, but we are not.\u201d Sources said that the new entities charged with enforcing these policies, the College Sports Commission<\/a> and its Deloitte-run NIL clearinghouse<\/a>, are \u201cbogged down in legalities<\/a> tethered to the settlement.\u201d Dozens and \u201cpotentially hundreds\u201d of submitted third-party NIL deals \u201cremain under review.\u201d Sources said that of the more than 1,200 deals submitted to the clearinghouse, \u201cabout one-third have been approved.\u201d About 80 have been denied and \u201care likely\u201d to be resubmitted, which can happen once.
