It may not be a matter in their own backyard, but the Minnesota Vikings couldn’t sit back and watch the suffering from afar.<\/p>\n

Since the early morning of July 4, extreme rainfall and flash flooding have ravaged parts of Texas<\/a>, resulting in over 100 deaths and more than 173 missing people.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, July 9, the Vikings announced the organization has committed $500,000 to support rescue and recovery efforts from the floods in Kerr County and Texas Hill Country.<\/p>\n

“We are deeply saddened by the continued devastation and loss of life in the Texas Hill Country and can’t imagine the pain so many are experiencing,” the Wilf family wrote in a statement<\/a>. “We are praying for peace for the families who have lost a loved one and strength for those who continue to risk their lives leading the rescue and recovery efforts.”<\/p>\n

ESPN’s Adam Schefter amplified<\/a> the message of solidarity, sharing the statement on X, which garnered over 100,000 views in the first hour of the post, which led to many across the nation to applaud the organization’s generosity.<\/p>\n

“The Vikings have been doing this type of help for years,” one fan wrote<\/a>. “Heck of an organization. Set the standard.”<\/p>\n

“Vikings have always been a class act,” a second fan replied<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Major kudos. There does not appear to be any connection between the Wilf\u2019s\/Vikings to Central Texas or even Texas at all,” a third fan added<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Vikings have a reputation for taking initiative in supporting those in need. In January, the Vikings donated $1 million to California wildfire relief and surpassed $5 million donated<\/a> just months into the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.<\/p>\n
