Promotion secured Leeds a financial windfall<\/a> and just over \u00a330 million has been spent on the defence, which bodes well for\u00a0Leeds\u2019 \u00a3100 million transfer budget<\/a>.<\/p>\n Leeds could spend big this summer<\/a> despite the fact Leeds have a \u00a361 million PSR problem<\/a> to overcome as well. In spite of all that, it\u2019s been stated previously that Leeds will be one of Europe\u2019s busiest sides<\/a>.<\/p>\n There is now talk that Leeds need to start addressing the big-money signings of this summer. A Leeds squad overhaul is being undertaken<\/a> thus far.<\/p>\n Graham Smyth has spoken on the Inside Elland Road Podcast to provide his verdict on the current situation: \u201cI feel like Leeds are caught in this tension of not wanting to overpay. <\/p>\n \u201cI think what they\u2019re trying to do is save money for the top end of the pitch where they\u2019re going to have to spend big.<\/p>\n \u201cSpend big on a striker, and possibly a No.10, and probably a winger. Those players cost the earth, generally.<\/p>\n MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES<\/p>\n \u201cSo, you don\u2019t want your kind of unsexy, athletic, runs around a lot, will tackle a lot, fine on the ball \u2014 you don\u2019t want them to cost you \u00a315 million upwards, do you?<\/p>\n \u201cYou don\u2019t want to be spending \u00a330 million on a player that\u2019s not really going to be a match-winner for you. Probably not?<\/p>\n \u201cThe other thing that they are battling with is time. Because they go to play to the training camp in Germany. You really want to have a couple of faces in before then.<\/p>\n \u201cYou don\u2019t want to be playing too many pre-season games thinking, \u2018well, he\u2019s not going to start, he\u2019s not going to start, and these are placeholders\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cBecause the team\u2019s not gelling then. You\u2019re not getting that cohesion. You\u2019re starting to run the risk of not hitting the ground running at the start of the season.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u201cIf they get the right players in, and they stuck to their guns all summer and didn\u2019t overpay, I think it would be incredibly admirable and sensible.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd we\u2019ll look back on it and say, \u2018Fair play. Well done. You showed resolve and you didn\u2019t put the club in financial peril and you saved money for the right players.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cBut, if they don\u2019t get the right players in or it runs too late into August and get off to a poor start, it will reflect very poorly indeed.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, it\u2019s all about \u2014 the end is going to justify the means, isn\u2019t it? Either way? And that\u2019s what they\u2019re going to be judged on.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like they need a bit of a statement soon in terms of a signing. They need someone who will really get people going and get juices flowing.\u201d<\/p>\n Paraag Marathe made a transfer window pledge<\/a>\u00a0that he ultimately ended his words with: \u201cWe want to be as aggressive as we can be, which is probably going to require us to be as creative as we can be as well.\u201d<\/p>\n There is set to be a\u00a0change in approach to transfers<\/a>, with the 49ers ready to take risks through how they structure deals.
