When the New York Jets<\/a> released Davante Adams, Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams<\/a> jumped on the opportunity to sign him in free agency. McVay began recruiting the star receiver<\/a>, going all-out to get him in L.A.<\/p>\n

His aggressive pitch worked because Adams signed a two-year, $44 million contract<\/a> with the Rams, returning home to California to play for a coach he had heard nothing but great things about.<\/p>\n

Adams has been with the Rams for a few months now and needless to say, he\u2019s loved his time so far. He was on the \u201cDan Patrick Show\u201d<\/a> this week and was effusive with praise for McVay when asked what the Rams coach is like.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust like everybody says,\u201d Adams said. \u201cI haven\u2019t heard anybody say anything different about McVay. I think of any coach ever spoken about to me, it\u2019s been the most uniform feedback ever. And then I got around him and he completely validated all of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his career, Adams played for Mike McCarthy, Matt LaFleur, Josh McDaniels, Antonio Pierce and Jeff Ulbrich, so it\u2019s been a mix of good and bad. But with McVay, Adams loves the energy he brings every day and the way he coaches.<\/p>\n

Adams says McVay isn\u2019t someone who ridicules his players for making mistakes, which he appreciates.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got energy, but it\u2019s all legit. It\u2019s real,\u201d he added. \u201cYou can feel him. You just love being around his energy. Even when you don\u2019t do things right, you may have messed something up, you don\u2019t feel that, like, \u2018Oh, my coach is going to come down on me.\u2019 He\u2019s going to correct you and he\u2019s going to hold you accountable, but it\u2019s just a different feeling in that building right now, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a free agent, Adams prioritized going to a contender with a good quarterback, which are two boxes the Rams check. And having heard all the positive things that have been said about McVay over the years, landing with a coach like that was just another positive.<\/p>\n

He feels rejuvenated<\/a> and ready to roll, putting in a lot of work this offseason \u2013 even admitting he\u2019s probably worked the hardest he ever has. That\u2019s the type of commitment and effort McVay gets out of his players, no matter their age or experience.<\/p>\n
