Adam Peters began building this team last season, and while some of the short-term acquisitions aren&#8217;t long-term solutions, he&#8217;s been making moves to ensure the future of the Commanders remains bright.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, ESPN&#8217;s Field Yates made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/draft2025\/insider\/story\/_\/id\/44901054\/2025-nfl-draft-best-picks-value-steals-every-round-yates\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:a list;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">a list<\/a> of his favorite picks from the 2025 NFL draft. He selected five picks from each round as his favorites, and the Commanders&#8217; seventh-round pick made the list.<\/p>\n<p>Round 7: Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, Washington Commanders (No. 245)<\/p>\n<p>Croskey-Merritt had a winding college path that started at Alabama State and ended at Arizona, though eligibility issues limited him to only 13 rushes for the Wildcats in 2024. He has a very intriguing combination of size, speed and overall footwork, but he must develop his instincts and vision. He&#8217;s a moldable player for the Commanders to develop<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Since the Commanders have a solid running backs room at the moment, selecting a player who needs to be developed ensures that the Commanders will have a running back next year. Brian Robinson Jr., Jeremy McNichols, Austin Ekeler, and Chris Rodriguez Jr. all made some kind of impact for the Commanders in 2024.
