Much like former teammate Von Miller<\/a>, Justin Simmons still has love for the Denver Broncos<\/a>, but he knows a reunion probably isn’t realistic in 2025.<\/p>\n

Simmons, 31, was released by the Broncos<\/a> last year, and he spent the 2024 season with the Atlanta Falcons<\/a>. He became a free agent this spring and is yet to sign with a club ahead of the 2025 campaign.<\/p>\n

Speaking at his charity golf event earlier this week, Simmons told the Denver Post’s Sean Keeler<\/a> that he wants to retire a Bronco someday down the road. But he knows “someday probably isn\u2019t anytime soon,” Keeler wrote.<\/p>\n

Denver replaced Simmons with Brandon Jones last year, and they brought in Talanoa Hufanga this spring. So the Broncos<\/a> are set at safety. Simmons, meanwhile, hopes to join a contender still seeking safety help.<\/p>\n

“[I]n terms of where I\u2019m at now, (I\u2019m) being a little bit more picky where we want to go and where we want to call home next \u2026 the next two years, a year, whatever it is \u2026 but a contender is No. 1 on the list right now,” Simmons told Keeler.<\/p>\n

Time will tell where Simmons ends up this season. It seems safe to assume he will one day retire in Denver, but the veteran safety is unlikely to suit up for the Broncos in 2025.<\/p>\n
