We are just days away from rookies reporting to NFL training camps and the league is facing an unprecedented situation. Currently, only two of the 32 second-round picks from the 2025 NFL draft<\/a> have signed their rookie contracts.<\/p>\n

The only two second-round picks who are signed at Cleveland Browns<\/a> linebacker Carson Schwesinger and Houston Texans<\/a> wide receiver Jayden Higgins. They are the first two picks of the round and common sense would tell you it would just be a snowball effect from there.<\/p>\n

In this case, the rub is that both Schwesinger and Higgins signed fully guaranteed contracts, and now presumably the rest of the second-round picks want to follow suit. Giving a second-round pick a full-guaranteed deal is an outlier and not the norm. So if you are a fan of a team other than the Texans or Browns and are frustrated that your second-round pick isn’t signed, you can blame them.<\/p>\n
