The Los Angeles Chargers<\/a>‘ need for more help at the wide receiver position is going to be a trending topic when talking about the team until at least one player can step up and turn it into a non-issue.<\/p>\n

The team hopes that second-round pick Tre Harris<\/a> will be the answer to that question this season, but questions will remain until that happens consistently. Ladd McConkey had an incredible rookie season, but he is seen as the only “sure thing” on the roster right now.<\/p>\n

Mark Stolte of PFSN<\/a> recently posted a 2026 mock draft, and he expects the Chargers to still be looking for wide receiver help next spring. But that’s not the most noteworthy aspect of this mock. He has the Chargers selecting at No. 11 in the first round, meaning he also feels the 2025 season won’t go well for the team.<\/p>\n

“The Chargers select PFSN\u2019s number one ranked\u00a0analytical darling at wide receiver\u00a0in Jordyn Tyson of Arizona State. His 3.09 yards per route run ranks 16th among 946 FBS wide receivers with over 100 routes run in 2024.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the most appealing thing about Tyson is that he lined up in the slot just 42.6% of the time. Pair this up with his 66.7% contested target rate, and you start to see the hype with the 6\u20192\u2033 Arizona State wideout.<\/p>\n

This bodes well for a guy catching passes from a guy like\u00a0Justin Herbert, who is absolutely not afraid to laser throws in tight spaces and let the receiver go up and get it. In fact, I\u2019d argue that\u2019s Herbert\u2019s M.O..<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the Chargers hype train gets back on track after a disappointing season leaves them picking 11th and in need of some help on the outside”, wrote Stolte.<\/p>\n

While Chargers fans are going to strongly disagree with that prediction, Jordyn Tyson of Arizona State is an intriguing prospect if the team is still looking for more at wide receiver next season. He caught 75 passes for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. A repeat performance of that could cement him as a first-round pick.<\/p>\n

That said, there is a lot to determine between now and then and the Chargers will want to prove that they are a top contender in the AFC before even thinking about anything like this. However, unless Harris has a big rookie season, wide receiver will remain a position of need, at least to many outside the Chargers’ front office, going into next season.<\/p>\n
