Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins\u2019 arrest<\/a> occurred Saturday after police had been called for a \u201cdelayed battery\u201d and then \u201cdetermined a battery had occurred,\u201d a Fort Lauderdale Police Department Media Relations Unit spokesperson told ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Police officers arrived at a location on West Cypress Creek Road around 9 a.m., spoke with the victim and then \u201cmade contact\u201d with Judkins, 21, to arrest him, Sergeant David Soika told the outlet in his statement.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear where Judkins, the former Ohio State star who was drafted in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, was located when police spoke with the victim, or when the alleged incident occurred.<\/p>\n

Judkins was charged with a misdemeanor battery (domestic) crime, according to the Soika\u2019s statement, and his inmate log described the charge as \u201ctouch or strike\/battery\/domestic viol[ence].\u201d<\/p>\n

He was still being held in the Broward County main jail as of early Sunday afternoon, with his bond listed at $2,500, according to his inmate log.<\/a><\/p>\n

In a statement Saturday night, a Browns spokesman told the Akron Beacon Journal<\/a> that the team was \u201caware and gathering information.\u201d<\/p>\n

The initial court appearance for Judkins had been scheduled for Sunday morning, according to ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An official from the NFL told the outlet that the league is \u201caware of the matter but will decline further comment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Judkins, selected at No. 37 overall after helping the Buckeyes win the College Football Playoff championship last season, was positioned near the top of the Browns\u2019 running back depth chart entering training camp \u2014 with Nick Chubb leaving for a one-year, $2.5 million deal in Houston and Jerome Ford the only true competition for Judkins.<\/p>\n

Following two seasons with Ole Miss, Judkins transferred to Ohio State in 2024 and collected 1,060 yards \u2014 along with 14 touchdowns \u2014 during his final collegiate season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe brings the brand of football that we want, AFC North \u2018back,’\u201d assistant general manager and vice president of player personnel Glenn Cook said of the 5-foot-11, 225-pound running back following the draft, according to the team website<\/a>. \u201cExceptionally strong, physical, tough, productive three-down guy.\u201d<\/p>\n
