The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> are entering the 2025 NFL season as defending champions. Last season, Nick Sirianni, Jalen Hurts, and company went on an impressive run that ended with defeating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> in the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

Despite the run that Hurts led, the quarterback has continually received criticism. Whether that criticism has to do with his overall skill-set, simply being a game manager, or something else, the media has not given him the respect he deserves.<\/p>\n

Sirianni has heard enough of the narrative that Hurts is only a game manager. He has now fired back with a defiant response to that line of thinking.<\/p>\n

As shared by NBC Sports Philadelphia, Sirianni did not hold back his thoughts about that Hurts storyline.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah,\u201d Sirianni said<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s (expletive).\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued on, expounding on why he completely dismisses the critics who believe that about his quarterback.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, he plays the most important position in all sports,\u201d Sirianni said. \u201cAnd it’s the most ultimate team game there is. And what I admire about him is his selflessness of doing anything we need to do to win. I mean, obviously, anybody who plays quarterback is going to want to throw it 50 times a game. But he’ll do anything. If he has to throw 50 times a game, he’s ready to do that. If he has to hand it off 50 times a game, he’s ready to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

That wasn’t all that the Eagles’ head coach had to say.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnytime, I hear that, it’s cool, it\u2019s like a nice debate thing that people like to have,\u201d Sirianni said. \u201cAnd I get it, there’s a lot of hours that TV shows and radio stations have to fill to be able to fill that debate. I understand that, but we’re talking about the ultimate team game there is and he does whatever he needs to do to win each and every game.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the 2024 NFL season with Philadelphia, Hurts played in 15 games. He completed 68.7% of his pass attempts for 2,903 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five interceptions, while also running for 630 yards and 14 more touchdowns.<\/p>\n

While the 26-year-old quarterback may not put up the most gaudy passing numbers, the Eagles would not have won a Super Bowl without him last season. It’s about time for fans and the media to put more respect on Hurts’ name.<\/p>\n
