{"id":20680,"date":"2025-05-03T13:45:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-03T13:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/20680\/"},"modified":"2025-05-03T13:45:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-03T13:45:08","slug":"rams-sean-mcvay-has-big-plans-for-terrance-ferguson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/20680\/","title":{"rendered":"Rams&#8217; Sean McVay has &#8216;big plans&#8217; for Terrance Ferguson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>McVay says the Rams would&#8217;ve been comfortable taking Ferguson earlier, so they were thrilled to get him at No. 46<\/p>\n<p>The early portion of the 2025 NFL Draft went swimmingly for the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/los-angeles-rams\/343\" data-autotag=\"f489e821-d3f9-4cff-bec5-7eaa0f4b51cb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Los Angeles Rams<\/a>. They traded back 20 spots from No. 26 to 46, acquired a <a href=\"https:\/\/theramswire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/rams\/2025\/05\/02\/nfl-win-totals-draft-2026-rams-falcons-first-round-pick\/83412983007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2026 first-rounder<\/a> from the Atlanta Falcons and still managed to add a hyper-athletic tight end who should have an immediate and long-term impact on offense.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not to say the Rams would\u2019ve taken Ferguson at No. 26 had they not found a trade partner, but Sean McVay explicitly said they would\u2019ve \u201cfelt good\u201d about selecting him that early.<\/p>\n<p>With all the excitement about Los Angeles\u2019 top rookie, McVay told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.siriusxm.com\/channels\/mad-dog-sports-radio\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Adam Schein of SiriusXM<\/a> that the Rams have \u201cbig plans\u201d for Ferguson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor us to be able to go back, still get a player that we would\u2019ve felt good with earlier in terms of where we would\u2019ve drafted him, was a really big deal,\u201d he said. \u201cI&#8217;m excited about how it unfolded. I give a ton of credit to Tony Pastoors, obviously Les and our group, but it worked out really well and we were super excited about being able to come away with Terrance Ferguson, who we have big plans for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/theramswire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/rams\/2025\/04\/30\/rams-nfl-draft-terrance-ferguson-les-snead-offense-tight-ends\/83366805007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Les Snead already talked about<\/a> what the addition of Ferguson allows the Rams to do offensively, hinting at an expansion of 12 personnel \u2013\u00a0something that was a staple of McVay\u2019s offense in Washington before he was hired by the Rams.<\/p>\n<p>With Tyler Higbee and Ferguson potentially atop the depth chart, the Rams have two capable tight ends on the roster who can block and catch passes down the field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a versatile player.
