Former Miami Dolphins receiver Robbie Chosen has undergone numerous name changes over the past few years. Known as Robby Anderson early in his NFL career, he later changed his first name to be spelled “Robbie” and then changed it to “Chosen.”<\/p>\n

Now, the former NFL receiver goes by Robbie Chosen, and he recently opened up on why he decided to change his name.<\/p>\n

Chosen spent nine years in the NFL. His first four years were spent with the New York Jets, followed by two and a half years with the Carolina Panthers. He spent time with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022 before joining the Dolphins for the last two years. The Dolphins released Chosen in 2024.<\/p>\n

When Chosen arrived in Miami, he didn’t talk much about his name change, except that it was a positive change and spiritually driven. But at his youth football camp in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sunday, the former Dolphin opened up about the reasons behind his name change.<\/p>\n

\u201cGod led me to that,\u201d Chosen said (h\/t SunSentinel<\/a>). \u201cI wanted to re-identify myself, and just the redirection of my life, just understanding how valuable decisions are and just wanting to represent God. Just create a new legacy for my children, for them, just what I live for now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chosen, known as Anderson at the time, faced legal issues with multiple arrests and on-field issues early in his NFL career, likely what he was alluding to with the redirection of his life.<\/p>\n

Now, Chosen is focused on redefining his future. He held his youth camp at Joseph C. Carter Park this past weekend, where he led kids through football drills and played quarterback as the campers enjoyed 1-on-1 drills.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is where I come from. I just want to give them an opportunity to come out here, have fun and know that it\u2019s possible,\u201d Chosen said. \u201cI always try to be that person that would\u2019ve helped me and try to be that person I would\u2019ve looked up to.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Chosen’s career in the NFL, he’s taken advantage of opportunities in media, joining NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” and CBS Sports HQ as a guest, but he still intends to play somewhere in 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have teams that are interested in me that I\u2019m interested in. I\u2019m just staying patient and just preparing,\u201d Chosen said. \u201cI know I\u2019m in the best shape of my life. I\u2019m just preparing to have the best season of my life, and I\u2019m fully confident, staying patient, staying ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

We’ll see if Chosen finds a team for the 2025 season, but it seems he’s found peace within himself this offseason, affecting his community in new ways.<\/p>\n
