The 2017 first-round pick has won three Super Bowls, is a three-time Super Bowl MVP, a two-time NFL MVP and has twice thrown for more than 5,000 yards in a season. The face of Kansas City’s dynasty, Mahomes changed the way the position of quarterback is played, turning off-platform throws and no-look passes from reckless to routine. He’s the standard for modern quarterbacks.” – Matt Verderame

Each NFL Team’s Updated Cap Space and Biggest Question Heading into Training Camp | Bleacher Report

Biggest Question: Has the Left Tackle Problem Been Solved?

The Chiefs know that protecting Patrick Mahomes has to be their highest priority. As long as he has time in the pocket, they are going to have an effective offense.

Unfortunately, his protection detail had a flaw at left tackle last season. Kingsley Suamataia was unable to take over the role, and the Chiefs were eventually forced to slide Joe Thuney outside from his guard spot.

Now, Thuney is gone and the Chiefs have placed bets on Jaylon Moore and Josh Simmons to fill the role.

Moore, 28, got a two-year, $30 million contract in free agency this offseason. He has promise, but he’s only started 12 games in his four years as a reserve for the 49ers.

They also spent a first-round pick on Josh Simmons. He’s coming back from a torn ACL, but he is supposed to be full-go for camp.

Ideally, one of their newest additions will prove they are ready to start in Week 1. The Chiefs also have to figure out if Suamataia can cut it at left guard, so the entire left side of the line is worth following in the coming weeks.

Rome Odunze, Kelee Ringo and one potential breakout candidate from each NFL team | The Athletic

Kansas City Chiefs

WR Rashee Rice

He saw just four games his sophomore season before tearing up his knee chasing down a defender after a Patrick Mahomes interception. But the good news amid the bad news: Rice did not tear his ACL but his LCL, which meant a shorter recovery time. Thus, the wideout was back on the field this spring for the Chiefs, and coach Andy Reid said he expects him to be full-go for the start of training camp. Rice’s return will be crucial for an offense looking to rediscover its explosiveness. He had 938 receiving yards as a rookie in 2023 and was building off that early in Year 2. Kansas City has been waiting for a WR1 to step into the role vacated by Tyreek Hill in 2022. He’s not Hill, but Rice might be this team’s best bet. He has future Pro Bowler written all over him. — Zak Keefer

Kansas City Chiefs training camp 2025 preview: Key dates, notable additions, biggest storylines | NFL.com

2) With the Chiefs selecting Jalen Royals in April’s draft, Kansas City is looking for pass catchers who can contribute in any capacity.
