Kansas City Chiefs\u2019 Rashee Rice Gets 30 Days In Jail For Crash<\/p>\n

In case you forgot, Rashee Rice<\/a> of the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> caused a huge crash on a highway in Dallas, Texas last year. Rice was driving a rented Lamborghini Urus at the time<\/a>, and his buddy was driving his C8 Corvette, as the two raced each other on a busy highway, ultimately crashing into several other vehicles.<\/p>\n

Actress Emma Watson has had her driving privileges taken away.<\/a><\/p>\n

Multiple people were injured in the wreck, cars were totaled, and Rice\u2019s future seemed uncertain. But it seems he got a nice plea bargain<\/a> from the Dallas County District Attorney\u2019s Office. While he plead built to two third-degree felony charges of collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury, the judge ordered him to serve just 30 days in jail.<\/p>\n

That might not seem fair to some, but good legal counsel can work miracles<\/a>, even though that doesn\u2019t come cheap.<\/p>\n

On the flip side, Rice had to pay over $115,000 in restitution<\/a> to his victims, reports ESPN<\/a>. He\u2019s also serving five years of probation. The judge ruled he can serve those 30 days in jail anytime over those five years.<\/p>\n

Considering he\u2019s probably going to be suspended by the NFL for multiple games this season, he might want to spend that time in the slammer.<\/p>\n

But for the next five years, he\u2019ll have to keep his nose clean or face some big consequences since the plea agreement involved deferred adjudication.<\/p>\n

Through his attorney, Rice released the following statement about the plea bargain:<\/p>\n

“Last March, I was involved in a high-speed accident in Dallas. There have been a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages that my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole. I urge everyone to mind the speed limit, drive safe and drive smart.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Last and certainly not least, I am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property. I fully apologize for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families.”<\/p>\n
