{"id":21723,"date":"2025-05-03T23:07:11","date_gmt":"2025-05-03T23:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/21723\/"},"modified":"2025-05-03T23:07:11","modified_gmt":"2025-05-03T23:07:11","slug":"chiefs-sign-16-undrafted-players-before-rookie-minicamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/21723\/","title":{"rendered":"Chiefs sign 16 undrafted players before rookie minicamp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"2lvusL\">On Saturday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arrowheadpride.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> announced the signings of 16 undrafted free agents (UDFAs) following last weekend\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbnation.com\/nfl-draft\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL Draft<\/a>. All of these players will be on the practice field for the team\u2019s rookie minicamp, which will be held Saturday through Monday at the team\u2019s training facility on the grounds of the Truman Sports Complex.<\/p>\n<p>Other roster moves<\/p>\n<p id=\"P1WV4z\">The Chiefs began clearing room for their UDFA class on Wednesday by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arrowheadpride.com\/2025\/4\/30\/24421330\/chiefs-make-6-roster-moves-on-wednesday\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">making six roster moves<\/a>.  The team finished making room on its 90-man roster for the class on Saturday by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chiefs.com\/team\/transactions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">releasing linebacker Blake Lynch and waiving former fifth-round pick BJ Thompson<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p id=\"2kDC5v\">Here are the newly-signed UDFAs (and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arrowheadpride.com\/2025\/4\/21\/24411886\/consensus-top-100-nfl-draft-prospects-2025\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">their rankings<\/a> from Arrowhead Pride\u2019s consensus draft prospect rankings, if applicable):<\/p>\n<p>TE Jake Briningstool, Clemson (164)<\/p>\n<p id=\"J5v3Pv\">The Brentwood, Tennessee native <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/prospects\/jake-briningstool\/32004252-4939-4749-302a-af2e17a0e040\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">measured 6 feet 6 and weighed 241 pounds<\/a> at the Combine. Over his final two seasons at Clemson, Briningstool totaled 99 catches for 1,028 yards and 12 touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>WR Elijhah Badger, Florida (230)<\/p>\n<p id=\"tE8qyy\">Hailing from South Sacramento, California, Badger played four seasons at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houseofsparky.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arizona State<\/a> before transferring to Florida last season. In his lone season as a Gator, Badger caught 39 passes for 806 yards and four touchdowns. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/prospects\/elijhah-badger\/32004241-4465-4339-16b1-4f6ec4d36f2a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">measured 6 feet 1 and weighed 200 pounds<\/a>. Badger appeared to put himself on the draft radar with a 4.43-second 40-yard dash time in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n<p>T Dalton Cooper, Oklahoma State (323)<\/p>\n<p id=\"RswN4V\">Between Texas State and Oklahoma State, this Prague, Oklahoma product <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/prospects\/dalton-cooper\/3200434f-4f52-6333-a2da-f12fa3c7fe2a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">started 59 games over the past five seasons<\/a>. Cooper also reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TomPelissero\/status\/1909263307132764531\" rel=\"nofollow\">came to Kansas City on a Top 30 visit<\/a>. At Oklahoma State\u2019s pro day, Cooper measured 6 feet 5 and weighed 326 pounds.<\/p>\n<p>S Glendon Miller, Maryland (349)<\/p>\n<p id=\"qo9Ncp\">Miller played five seasons for the Terrapins \u2014 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/glendon-miller-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">snagged seven interceptions<\/a> over the past two seasons. At Maryland\u2019s pro day, Miller measured 6 feet 3 and weighed 207 pounds.<\/p>\n<p>T Esa Pole, Washington State (360)<\/p>\n<p id=\"8sA549\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/prospects\/esa-pole\/3200504f-4c06-0273-8c3e-f3d8caf21811\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A latecomer to football<\/a> after playing basketball in high school, Pole split his college days between Chabot College in California and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cougcenter.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Washington State<\/a>.  The Hayward, California native started all 13 games at left tackle for Washington State last season, allowing zero sacks.  He measured 6 feet 5 and weighed 323 pounds at Washington State\u2019s pro day.  Pole reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Easton__Butler\/status\/1900960070554296484\" rel=\"nofollow\">took a Top 30 visit in Kansas City<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>LB Brandon George, Pittsburgh (411)<\/p>\n<p id=\"OizLDI\">George finally broke through in 2024 as a sixth-year senior. Coming from Reading, Pennsylvania, he also <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/_RyanFowler_\/status\/1906740688089145724\" rel=\"nofollow\">took a Top 30 visit with the Chiefs<\/a> \u2014 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arrowheadpride.com\/2025\/4\/17\/24409587\/chiefs-draft-pittsburgh-brandon-george-core-special-teamer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">we featured him<\/a> in our draft series. While already 24, George\u2019s pro day performance \u2014 in which he measured 6 feet 3 and weighed 246 pounds \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MathBomb\/status\/1907432318832095679?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1907432318832095679%7Ctwgr%5E73fe22f9a546914a0dbb82b9f3c17a5df7c4d379%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.arrowheadpride.com%2F2025%2F4%2F17%2F24409587%2Fchiefs-draft-pittsburgh-brandon-george-core-special-teamer\" rel=\"nofollow\">was an all-time great athletic showing<\/a> among linebacker prospects.<\/p>\n<p>DT Coziah Izzard, Penn State (472)<\/p>\n<p id=\"M2AtBZ\">Izzard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/coziah-izzard-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was credited with nine sacks over the past four seasons<\/a> with Penn State. At the school\u2019s pro day \u2014 where the Chiefs reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/college-football\/news-insider-notes-penn-state-maryland-towson-pro-day-30-nfl-teams-eye-top-maryland-prospect-sb-champs-eagles-meet-penn-state-dt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">had a meeting with him<\/a> \u2014 the Columbia, Maryland product weighed 298 pounds and measured 6 feet 3.<\/p>\n<p>CB Melvin Smith Jr., Southern Arkansas (501)<\/p>\n<p id=\"PLwGyE\">In 2024, Smith dominated a lesser level of competition <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/prospects\/melvin-smith-jr\/3200534d-4982-9494-6fdb-e1ba9fad4d09\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">with five interceptions<\/a>.  He put himself on the league\u2019s radar by holding his own at this year\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sbnation.com\/senior-bowl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Senior Bowl<\/a>, and the Chiefs reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RedZoneInsider\/status\/1904935039747453192\" rel=\"nofollow\">hosted Smith for a Top 30 visit<\/a>.  At Southern Arkansas\u2019 pro day, the Bossier City, Louisiana native measured 5 feet 10 and weighed 190 pounds.  He reportedly ran the 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>WR Mac Dalena, Fresno State (691)<\/p>\n<p id=\"8iw0Hb\">Coming from Fresno, California, Dalena stayed local for college.  He broke out in his fifth season, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/mac-dalena-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">catching 64 passes for 1065 yards and eight touchdowns<\/a>.  Dalena measured slightly under 5 feet 10 and weighed 180 pounds at Fresno State\u2019s pro day.  He reportedly ran the 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds.  <\/p>\n<p>P Eddie Czaplicki, USC (710)<\/p>\n<p id=\"vPtkxM\">The Charlotte, North Carolina native <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/eddie-czaplicki-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">averaged 45.2 yards per punt<\/a> over four college seasons split between Arizona State and USC.<\/p>\n<p>TE Tre Watson, Texas A&amp;M (751)<\/p>\n<p id=\"l7bLbY\">Native to Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Watson transferred to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodbullhunting.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas A&amp;M<\/a> after three seasons at Fresno State.  Over four college seasons, Watson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/tre-watson-4.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">caught 77 passes for 872 yards and five touchdowns<\/a>.  At A&amp;M\u2019s pro day, Watson measured 6 feet 4 and weighed 247 pounds.  His 4.68-second 40-yard dash time would have ranked third <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/combine\/tracker\/live-results\/40-yard-dash\/te\/all-colleges\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">among tight ends<\/a> at the combine.  <\/p>\n<p>CB Jacobe Covington, USC<\/p>\n<p id=\"3gzx1P\">Over five seasons split between Washington and USC, Covington <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/jacobe-covington-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">totaled 47 tackles, including three tackles for loss<\/a>.  At USC\u2019s pro day, the Chandler, Arizona native measured 6 feet 2 and weighed 207 pounds.<\/p>\n<p>RB Elijah Young, Western Kentucky<\/p>\n<p id=\"kPJIJm\">You may remember the Knoxville, Tennessee native from his three Missouri seasons from 2020-22.  With the Tigers in 2021, he carried the ball 50 times for 237 yards.  Last season at Western Kentucky, Young <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/elijah-young-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">totaled 1,267 scrimmage yards and found the end zone five times<\/a>.  At the school\u2019s pro day, Young was measured at 5 feet 9 and weighed 197 pounds.  He reportedly ran a 4.41-second 40-yard dash.<\/p>\n<p>S Will Brooks, Tennessee<\/p>\n<p id=\"9pIsGI\">Brooks turned in a big senior season with the Volunteers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/will-brooks-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">with four tackles-for-loss and four interceptions<\/a>.  A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Brooks measured 6 feet 1 and weighed 203 pounds at Tennessee\u2019s pro day.  <\/p>\n<p>DB Kevin Knowles II, Florida State<\/p>\n<p id=\"H1Vzhp\">Hailing from Hollywood, Florida, Knowles played in 50 games for the Seminoles over the last four seasons.  Last season, Knowles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/kevin-knowles-ii-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was credited with 32 tackles and a sack<\/a>.  He measured at 5 feet 10 and weighed 189 pounds at the team\u2019s pro day.  <\/p>\n<p>WR Justin Lockhart, San Jose State<\/p>\n<p id=\"CXAvTV\">After spending his first three seasons at Nevada, Lockhart played at San Jose State from 2023-24.  He broke out last season <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/justin-lockhart-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">with 983 receiving yards and five touchdowns<\/a> on 53 catches.
