The Jets have signed tight end Mason Taylor<\/a>, the club’s Round 2 selection (No. 42 overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft. Taylor will join the entire Jets’ 2025 draft class when rookies report for training camp on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Last season at LSU, Taylor set personal highs with 55 catches \u2014 the school single-season record for the position \u2014 and 546 receiving yards. After addressing the offensive line with the first-round selection of T Armand Membou, the Jets stuck to their board on the second night of the draft and GM Darren Mougey was able to attack a need.<\/p>\n

“A tight end we’ve had our eye on,” Mougey said of Taylor. “Think he can come in and really help us on offense. Young, athletic, really good ball skills, instinctive, has versatility.”<\/p>\n

Taylor (6-5, 255), who closed his career catching at least one pass in 28 straight games, became the first 100-reception (129), 1,000-yard tight end (1,308) for the Bayou Bengals.<\/p>\n

“When the chains need to be moved, when it’s a must-get touchdown, being that guy that can be counted on and be that safety blanket for the quarterback,” Taylor said. “Be that guy that’s reliable in the pass game, but also in the run game being that complete, every-down tight end that I pride myself on is something I really look forward to showing Jets fans.<\/p>\n

In December, Taylor declared for the draft. After not participating in athletic testing at the NFL Combine, Taylor impressed at LSU’s pro day with a 4.65 time in the 40-yard dash, a 7.06 posting in the 3-cone drill and 28 reps of 225 pounds.<\/p>\n

The New York arrival of Mason Taylor marks a return for his family. Hall of Fame pass rusher Jason Taylor spent the 2010 season with the Green & White, racking up 5 sacks in the regular season and tallying 7 tackles in the team’s postseason run to the AFC Championship game.<\/p>\n

“We lived there for a year, really just me, my brother, and my sister running around, and my mom at Central Park tackling each other,” Mason Taylor said. “We went to the park maybe every single day to keep us entertained as kids. Running around there and running around New York I mean it was fun, it was a blast, so I mean it’s definitely crazy and eye-opening knowing that I’ll be there now older [21]. It’s just an amazing experience and I’m just so excited for this.”<\/p>\n

In June, Taylor’s blocking drew praise from HC Aaron Glenn.<\/p>\n
