Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders isn’t necessarily in an enviable position.<\/p>\n
The Colorado Buffaloes legend enters Browns training camp as seemingly the fourth quarterback in a four-QB competition.<\/p>\n

If Sanders can’t leapfrog Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett or Dillon Gabriel, his job security could come into question.<\/p>\n
And if that happens, the rest of the NFL will be watching.<\/p>\n
That’s because if the Browns try to sneak Sanders onto their practice squad, he’ll be subject to waivers. And the rest of the league could try to claim him.<\/p>\n
“You’re not keeping four QBs,” NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo <\/a>said earlier this week. “If No. 12 becomes available, it’s almost going to be like a second draft. Training camp is going to be so important for these rookies.”<\/p>\n MORE:\u00a0V<\/a>on Miller gets his Commanders contract figured out<\/a><\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n You could interpret Garafolo’s “second draft” comment a couple of ways.<\/p>\n Clearly, he doesn’t mean an actual draft.<\/p>\n Instead, it’s the idea that Sanders would then be on offer to the whole league, again. Everyone had a chance to draft him in April as he slid from a consensus first-round pick to round five and pick No. 144.<\/p>\n If he goes on waivers, it’ll be deja vu all over again for the rest of the league. Is Sanders worth the claim?<\/p>\n Maybe the calculus has changed a bit after some positive reviews have come in on Sanders through the Cleveland offseason program.
