Fant was due a non-guaranteed salary of $8.49 million this year and the move saves $8.91 million against the salary cap.

— Bob Condotta (@bcondotta) July 20, 2025

The Broncos rocked the NFL world in March of 2022 when they acquired Wilson from the Seahawks in exchange for Noah Fant, QB Drew Lock, DL Shelby Harris, two first-round picks, two second-round picks and more. GM George Paton pulled the trigger one of the biggest trade in league history, one that ended in disaster for Denver.

The team eventually released Wilson after the 2023 season, taking on the largest dead cap hit in NFL history. Meanwhile, Harris is gone from Seattle, Lock left and then returned, and now Fant is looking for a new home.

In 48 games with the Seahawks, Fant caught 130 passes for 1,400 yards and five touchdowns. Seattle drafted tight end Elijah Arroyo in the second-round this year, so clearly they felt Noah Fant was expendable. The 27-year-old has six professional seasons under his belt, including the first three of his career in Denver.

The Broncos spent a first-round pick on Fant in 2019, hoping he’d be their best tight end since Julius Thomas, but it never really worked out. His career-bests with Denver were 673 yards receiving in 2020 and four touchdowns in 2021.

Now, Fant will be on the open market, and should find a new team relatively soon. But as the Wilson trade gets further and further away, it’s a good reminder life happens relatively quickly in the NFL.

Follow @PetersenWill

Former Denver Broncos tight end Noah Fant, who was part of the infamous Russell Wilson trade, is being…

[2062
232,3658,231,258,2426,7,6,3657
0":"post-223991","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-denver-broncos","8":"tag-broncos","9":"tag-colorado-denvers-sports-station-104-3-the-fan","10":"tag-denver","11":"tag-denver-broncos","12":"tag-denverbroncos","13":"tag-football","14":"tag-nfl","15":"tag-sports-radio-104-3-the-fan-denver
["GET
