HOUSTON \u2013 The Texans signed veteran former Baltimore Ravens cornerback Arthur Maulet to a one-year contract, according to a league source.<\/p>\n
The Texans have been looking for quality depth at corner after Ronald Darby retired.<\/p>\n
A former New Orleans Saints undrafted free agent, Maulet, 31, was released by the Ravens in March after he ended last season on injured reserve.<\/p>\n
Maulet signed a two-year contract extension with Baltimore last year after playing in 14 games with three starts as a nickel corner two seasons ago. He recorded 37 tackles, five passes defensed and one interception. He had a 65.8 passer efficiency mark against him and two sacks on 10 blitzes in 2023.<\/p>\n
He was placed on injured reserve last season with a knee injury in training camp. After being activated in October, he was placed on injured reserve due to calf and knee injuries.<\/p>\n
When healthy, Maulet provides sound coverage and is also a strong blitzer. This marks his first audition since recovering from his injuries last season that limited him to three games.<\/p>\n
He has also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts.<\/p>\n
Maulet has four career interceptions, five sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries with one touchdown, 17 tackles for losses, 225 tackles and 16 passes defensed.<\/p>\n
