The Houston Texans<\/a> have signed their final piece from the 2025 Draft class ahead of the start of training camp, signing second-round offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery to a deal worth $9.2 million.<\/p>\n

The 48th overall pick in the NFL Draft will compete for a starting tackle job in his rookie campaign against Cam Robinson and Blake Fisher. Strong and mobile at 6-foot-6 and 331 pounds, Ersery is expected to be in consideration for the top role.<\/p>\n

Ersery was a standout during his collegiate career at Minnesota. During the 2024 season, he allowed only one sack, and he was named an All-American. Ersery is also a former Big Ten Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year.<\/p>\n

The Texans previously signed their other second-round pick, Jayden Higgins, to a fully guaranteed deal, making NFL history. Higgins became the first second-round pick in NFL history to get a fully guaranteed contract. It’s unknown if Ersery’s deal is fully guaranteed, but the Texans now have their full 2025 draft class signed.<\/p>\n

\u201cErsery, he\u2019s done a great job,\u201d Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said<\/a>. \u201cThe biggest thing with Ersery is getting acclimated to learning what it takes to be a pro. I see Ersery, he\u2019s steadily gotten better at the things off the field, of finding his routine, and also on the field, just seeing his footwork, his pad leverage, is getting better, it\u2019s improving.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quarterback C.J. Stroud is poised for a career year, and the additions of Ersery and Higgins should help him elevate his game further. The Texans have advanced to the Divisional Round in back-to-back seasons and are looking to make a deeper run this year.<\/p>\n

While Ersery may or may not start during his rookie season, he should be a long-term addition on the offensive line protecting Stroud.<\/p>\n
