LAS VEGAS \u2014 Ohio State\u2019s football season-ticket sales remain high in the aftermath of its first national championship in a decade.<\/p>\n
The school sold 56,537 season-tickets to the general public, faculty and staff this year, according to Brett Scarbrough, the senior associate athletic director for ticketing and premium seating.<\/p>\n
The total nearly matched last fall, when Ohio State sold 56,998 non-student season-tickets<\/a>, the most in at least 16 years.<\/p>\n Expectations are again high for the Buckeyes<\/a>, who are expected to be near the top of preseason polls due to be released in the weeks ahead and are led by two of the most high-profile players in the sport between wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and safety Caleb Downs.<\/p>\n The Buckeyes<\/a> also open with a marquee nonconference game against Texas<\/a> at Ohio Stadium, a rematch of their meeting in a College Football Playoff semifinal in January, and host Penn State to begin the last month of the regular season.<\/p>\n Their five other home games are against Grambling on Sept. 6, Ohio on Sept. 13, Minnesota on Oct. 4, UCLA on Nov. 15 and Rutgers on Nov. 22.<\/p>\n They had eight home games a year ago, including the game against bitter rival Michigan.<\/p>\n Before last year, the Buckeyes had only twice sold more than 56,000 non-student season-tickets since 2009.
