Former Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> defensive end Joey Bosa is looking to get his career back on track in Western New York and has reached a true crossroads in his career.<\/p>\n

Bosa was released by the Chargers<\/a> in a cost-cutting move this offseason, one that directly helped the team re-sign Khalil Mack<\/a> in free agency. Bosa then signed a one-year, $12.6 million deal<\/a> with the Buffalo Bills.<\/p>\n

In Buffalo, he will get a chance to play for one of the top teams in the league and become what many have felt is the team’s missing piece to finally reach the Super Bowl. But Bosa will have to prove that he’s worth that contract, and that starts with being more available than he was in L.A. the last few seasons.<\/p>\n

Some of that is why ESPN’s Bill Barnwell<\/a> chose to classify Bosa as one of the players facing the most pressure in 2025.<\/p>\n

“If Bosa can stay healthy and make a significant dent on opposing quarterbacks during a deep Buffalo playoff run, he would be in position to sign one more deal with a significant multiyear guarantee. If not, he’s probably going to be looking at more one-year pacts. Things aren’t off to a great start, as he missed some of the offseason program after\u00a0suffering a calf injury\u00a0in May”, wrote Barnwell.<\/p>\n

Bosa, who ranks second on the all-time sacks list for the Chargers with 72 for his career, doesn’t appear to be upset over his new surroundings. In fact, by comparison, he seems to be enjoying himself while taking a shot<\/a> at his former team.<\/p>\n

The Bills are one of the best teams in the AFC and Bosa’s ability to reach the quarterback could be what helps put them over the top. But how many Chargers fans believe in that happening? The team was unable to get the best version of Bosa for the last several seasons of his tenure there due to injuries, so unless he’s going to be much healthier in Buffalo, they will likely get the same version of him, and already dealing with a calf injury this offseason could be a major red flag.<\/p>\n

The Bills felt like the one-year deal they offered was worth the chance, but if the Chargers really wanted him back, they could have made it happen. One thing is for sure: if Bosa flops in Buffalo or sits for a large chunk of the season due to being injured, his playing days could be numbered.<\/p>\n
